Certus Projects were engaged by Garde and Taihan to design and construct the Bedwin Road cable bridge crossing in St Peters, Sydney. The bridge serves a double purpose and provides a route for cyclists over the rail line in addition to carrying cables within the bridge structure. The bridge is a part of Transgrid’s Powering Sydney’s Future Project.

 

The Powering Sydney’s Future project will secure energy supply to meet the needs of more than 800,000 people around Sydney CBD and surrounding areas.

Key features of the project include:

  • Design and Construction of a 3 span cable bridge to cross
  • Cycleway incorporated as part of the Inner West council cycling network.
  • Bridge construction over train lines, operated by Sydney Trains and Sydney Metro.
  • 330kv transmission cables incorporated into the design and construction.
  • The bridge is 103 meters long, with precast beams measuring 84.5 meters and a clear width of 3 meters.
  • Planning of dual crane lift.
  • Thorough interface with industry authorities such as Sydney Trains CCB (Configuration Control Board) Process and Sydney Metro Sub NAC(Assurance) Process
